A convertible top is not a
bimini! Alas, some education here! A convertible top is a structure with a
frame that has a roof and a forward section attaching to your windshield .
Convertible tops are one-piece units which can have either glass forward
(stand-up), or solid canvas(sit-down). We offer these in many shapes and forms
w/your choice of aluminum , or stainless steel frames (7/8”, or 1”). Sunbrella
is the most common , but stamoid, and topgun (both polyester) are not uncommon.
We offer your choice of vinyl glass to be installed. For charter fishermen we
strongly advise .040 strataglass, but for recreational boaters the more
economical .030 gauge glass is more than sufficient. The convertible top is
complimented w/side curtains most often, and can also be fabricated so as to
accommodate an aft-drop curtain, stern cover, or camper by way of a flap
w/zipper.

Stand Alone
-at the risk of negating
myself, a stand-alone convertible top IS basically a bimini but with versatility. It (like a bimini) is a free standing unit which enables the
boater to remove the windshield piece entirely, thus providing shade- only on
hot days at the helm. We have made more and more of this style convertible top
as the years pass. Combined w/a camper top made the same way, it enables what
would be a free-standing bimini across the entire cockpit of the boat to be
enclosed as well.
Traditional
-the traditional
convertible top comes with the options of center roll up section,
stand-up(w/windows), or canvas front.
Bimini
-free standing with
options for straps to secure or permanent aft/fwd stanchions enabling fold-up
without removal. For those that wish for occasional shade we offer an aluminum
bimini at lower cost that can be easily taken off the boat.
Camper
-normally the happy mate of
the convertible top, and routinely equipped w/side and aft curtains, if made
bimini-style. A camper can also have the aft curtain attached to it.
